My Story Throughout my early life, I knew my life is destined to be the path less traveled. I worked in my dad's shop-house since I was 8 years old. While other children are tackling enrichment classes, I am working as the business co-assistant, assisting in procurement of goods, meeting customers, and managing the cashier. This continued until the business gradual decline after the Asian Financial Crisis, whereby the business economics deteriorated and was sold off to pay off the debtors. My life experienced fluctuations because I hated the circumstances my family found itself in. This is worsened after one of my family member had a medical condition. I used to blame the situation and always asked myself “Why can’t my family be the same as others?” But having this chip on the shoulder made me a very driven individual. I believed in Continuous Improvement, taking ownership of my life and always striving to be a better version of myself.
I did not have enough funds for my university education after I completed National Service. So from age 22 onward, I went to work part time roles in different organizations such as CPF, OCBC, Microsoft to build up my working experience and resume through the university holidays. As my results are stellar, I also managed to secure a bursary from my university. I decided to pay it forward by volunteering as a Peer Assisted leader and teach fellow students on Macroeconomics module for a year.
Fast forward to age 25, my wealth of working experience landed me my first role at Banking. I started my investing journey after I have six months of invest-able savings, and wrote a blog to distill the high level knowledge I gained and network with other investors. I moved between different organizations through my banking career of 8 years. Through my professional expertise in the equity markets and managing client trade flow, I managed to identify the best fund managers in the industry and started to aggressively digest investment literature and learn from the best.
2016 to 2024 has been a great period for the equity markets. As I successfully built up my net worth from SGD 0 at age 26 to SGD 300,000 at the age of 33 years old. I decided to give up my career, take a leap of faith to pursue my calling and make a career switch to become a Independent Financial Adviser.
I fell in love with the profession and developed a profound conviction in what I do. The solutions we design have the power to transform lives, and can shield our clients from potential disasters that could adversely impact the lives of those around them. Also, being able to engage with and service so many wonderful individuals has been truly rewarding. It is something I hold close to heart, and I wish to continue doing this for a long time.
Today, I make it my mission to help others unlock the potential in transforming their own lives. Together, let’s take the first step of this long journey.
Mission Statement “Challenges are opportunities for you to solve. And
